12/8 - 2 PM in the HS Gym: High School Winter Band and Choir Concert
12/9 - 6:30 PM in the MS Gym: 3rd Grade Concert
12/12 - 7 PM in the MS Gym: Middle School Band and Choir Concert
12/16 - 6 PM in the MS Gym: 1st Grade Concert
12/16 - 7:15 in the MS Gym: 4th Grade Concert


The middle school students had the chance to participate in the Friendsgiving reading challenge. They and a friend could choose to read the same book and complete a book review. Those who completed this were invited to breakfast in the library this morning!



The 5th graders completed a math quest called Terrible Turkey Takeover! In the quest they reviewed multiplication, division, Venn diagrams, and map skills! Their foal was to save the residents of Manhattan from turning into turkeys under control of the evil warlock, Waldo! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!


Mr. Walk's 7th grade math students each sorted a small bag of M&Ms, graphed the total number of pieces for each color, and then found the mean, median, and mode for the M&Ms this week!









The fifth grade science classes started an experiment today to see what will happen when baking soda and vinegar are mixed. They are also testing what will happen when a dirty penny is placed in the mixture overnight.

Cumberland Middle School will hold player/parent meetings for volleyball on the following dates:
7th and 8th grade players and parents: Thursday, November 21, at 5:30 PM in the cafeteria
6th grade players and parents: Monday, December 2, at 5:45 PM in the cafeteria
7th and 8th grade practice will begin on Monday, December 2. The 6th grade players will have a separate schedule for practices and games. 6th grade practice will begin on Friday, December 6. All players must have a current physical on file with the school prior to the first practice. Thanksgiving break begins next week! School will dismiss at 2:09 on Tuesday, November 26. There is no school from November 27-29. School will resume on Monday, December 2. We hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving!


Did you know that $1 provides six meals for a family in need? Over the next two weeks, the Cumberland Middle School Student Council is raising money to support the local food bank and the Student Council support fund. To do this, they are sponsoring two hat days on Friday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 26. Students need to donate $1 on each hat day in order to wear a hat. Money donations will be collected until next Tuesday.


The Cumberland Middle School 8th grade girls basketball team will enter regional play on Saturday, November 23. Game time will be 10:30 AM at Paris-Mayo. The #7 seed Lady Raiders will take on the #2 seed Lawrenceville Parkview Lady Braves.


Picture Retake Day is Monday, November 25. This day is for students who need to be re-photographed and students who missed the original Picture Day. If you are getting retakes, send the original picture package, including the envelope and pictures, to school on Retake Day. For those who have not ordered, use the link below to place your order.

At last night's middle school basketball game, Emi Brading and Kyndal Duvall were honored for 8th grade night. These two have been great leaders and we appreciate their commitment to the team!


Mr. Bloemer’s 8th grade science students used the game Mousetrap to identify types of energy. They will later write where they saw the six types of energy, the energy transfers, and the energy transformations.




Cumberland Middle School will hold a player/parent meeting for the upcoming 7th and 8th grade volleyball season on Thursday, November 21, at 5:30 PM in the grade school cafeteria. Interested players and parents should plan to attend or contact Head Coach Megan Dittamore or Athletic Director Stacy Keyser for more information.

Congratulations to the 5th and 6th grade Eco team on placing 3rd in their competition on Tuesday! Adam Flessner received best overall score on both of his tests! The Eco team competed against 14 other schools on topics of woodland wildflowers, hummingbirds, and state symbols.



The Cumberland Middle School 7th grade girls basketball team will enter regional play on Saturday, November 16, at noon at Paris-Mayo against Newton-Jasper County.


The book fair is coming! Books will be available to purchase Monday, November 11 - Friday, November 15. Elementary students may bring money with them on their library day, and
middle school students can shop during homeroom or during 8th hour. The book fair will be open to families after the Veterans Day program on Monday, Nov. 11, from 11 AM - 3:30 PM.
An e-wallet option is available that allows you to load money to an online account so students do not have to handle money. Use the QR code to set up an e-wallet or order books online to have them shipped directly to you!
