The 6th grade students in Mrs. D. McElravy's social studies class have been learning about ancient Greek culture and the invention of catapults. The students built their own catapults to demonstrate how they work.







Today was career day at Cumberland Middle School. Volunteers spoke to the students about careers that may spark their interest in a future career choice. The students learned about careers in robotics and engineering, community health, agriculture, trades, ministry, public works, owning a business, school administration, cosmetology, military, manufacturing, counseling, teaching, photography, broadcasting, and being a chiropractor. Thank you to all of the speakers who helped our students learn about these amazing careers!








Reminder: School will dismiss at 12:01 on Friday, February 14, for a teacher in-service. The schools will be closed on Monday, February 17, in observance of Presidents' Day.


Cumberland Middle School will hold its cheerleading and boys basketball awards on Thursday, February 13, at 3:30 PM in the grade school cafeteria.

Beginning Monday, the elementary and middle school will be offering strawberry milk in addition to chocolate and white milk on a trial basis.

Cumberland Drama will hold its fundraiser breakfast and silent auction on Saturday, February 8, from 7-10 AM at the Toldeo Christian Church. Hope to see you there!


The middle school art students have been learning about making textiles. They are now creating their own hand-crafted textile!




The Cumberland Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team will enter regional play on Saturday, February 1, at 11:15 AM against Robinson at Teutopolis Junior High School.


Mrs. Walsh's 7th grade classes worked at various Greek gods stations today. Their stations included review Jenga, Zues on the Loose, Palm Tree Quizziz, flashcards, and a Blooket!


The following middle school students earned Perfect Attendance in the second quarter! Attendance is key to success. We are proud of you!





The 8th grade boys basketball games scheduled with Effingham Junior High and Cumberland Middle School has been moved to Wednesday, January 29. That night there will be two eighth grade games starting at 6 PM in the Effingham Junior High School gym.

The Cumberland 7th grade boys basketball team received the third seed in the Class 7-3A regional. They will play Bridgeport Red Hill on Saturday, January 25, at 12:30 PM at Teutopolis Junior High School. Good luck Raiders!


School will be closed on Monday, January 20, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.


Mrs. Ralston's fifth grade classes participated in an economy lesson where they simulated pencil sales. The students each designed a sign, and the top four student "stores" were chosen. Those students sold pencils for tokens, negotiating deals until they sold out. After three rounds, they had a top seller!










8th grade boys basketball schedule update: The 8th grade will play Effingham Junior High on Monday, January 27, at 6 PM (B game) and 7:15 PM (A game). The games will be played at Effingham High School.
