The Middle School Kindness Ambassadors read to kindergarten and 1st grade classes this week. They read books about friendship and kindness and discussed different ways to show kindness.

Cumberland Middle School has rescheduled the volleyball game with Neoga that was canceled due to weather for Monday, February 5. There will be C minutes beginning at 3:45 PM, and the 7th grade contest beginning at 4:30 PM.
Any 8th-11th grade student interested in participating in high school cheerleading for the 2024-2025 season needs to sign up in the school office and get an interest form. The forms need to be filled out and turned back into the office by Friday, 1/26, at 2 PM.

The 5th grade students finished an economy unit and tested their financial skills by creating a pencil business. The students made a business advertisement and vendors were selected. The students discovered how to make deals while still profiting!
We are excited to have a second Shoe Tree distribution for our students this year. The normal Shoe Tree Fall distribution is still being planned for the 24-25 school year. A form will be sent out in May for that Shoe Tree.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, complete this form for qualifying students, Pre K-8th grade, to receive a free pair of shoes. Shoes will be distributed by the school in mid-February. Please complete this form by January 19, 2024.

Students in FACS classes donated money to purchase Christmas gifts for children who live in foster homes. Mrs. Thomas purchased ingredients for S'mores & students could pay to make one after they finished their final exam. All the money that was collected was used for the toys.

On January 5th the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) will recognize Cumberland High School as one of the few consolidated high schools that have surpassed the 1000 win mark for boys basketball. We would like to invite all past/present players, coaches, and fans to attend this event that will take place between the JV and Varsity games that evening.
Also, following this announcement we will recognize winter senior participates and their parents.
